We're giving your kids an amazing opportunity to take part in a Masterclass Workshop with Jo Hawes, children’s casting director who has worked on many large-scale West End and touring shows including Oliver!, Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, The Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 and Ruthless!

Jo Hawes is coming to Dublin Stage School in Castleknock on October 12th!

Jo's classes are specifically designed to empower children and to help them understand what creative teams are looking for, how to behave and how to use their nerves. They also include a wealth of other practical information.

Over the last 23 years Jo has been involved in the casting of children of around 150 West End and touring productions on behalf of all the major producers.

"I noticed that many children had no idea how to audition because this particular skill is not taught to them. So I started giving classes in November 2010 and have been invited all over the UK and Ireland. I have also taught in Hong king and Dubai." says Jo. "The classes are independent of any productions – indeed attendance or non - attendance will not change who I see when casting a show. I am always very inclusive providing children fit the basic criteria but I have seen many children unsuccessful in the audition process because they have not shown their considerable talents to a panel of directors who only have a very short time in which to make a decision."

Jo says that she is not intending to teach children how to sing, dance or act – they know that already – but she does want to help them develop good audition technique.

More about the Masterclass Workshop with Jo:

- The Masterclass is a 1.5 hour workshop which is complete and is not part of a course. - The minimum age is 7 years – there is no maximum age. - I hold a chaperone’s licence with enhanced DBS disclosure. I do not have any other adults in the room with me. - Cost – €27 per child payable in advance. - These one off sessions are fun and will help children to view auditions as an enjoyable challenge rather than a scary experience. - Children take away information reminding them of the things we have covered during the workshop.
